Project Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented API Automation Tester to join our quality assurance team. As an API Automation Tester, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated tests for APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) to ensure they function correctly, meet business requirements, and are free of defects. This role requires a strong understanding of API concepts, automation testing tools, and programming languages.

Key Responsibilities:

• Automated Testing Development:
  Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts to validate the functionality, performance, and security of APIs using appropriate automation tools (e.g., Postman, RestAssured, SoapUI, JMeter, or others).
• API Test Planning:
  Collaborate with product managers, developers, and QA teams to understand API requirements and design automated test cases that align with these requirements.
• Test Execution and Reporting:
  Execute automated tests in various environments, analyze test results, and create detailed reports of test cases, bugs, and issues. Ensure quick feedback on API quality.
• Integration Testing:
  Perform end-to-end integration testing of APIs with different systems and services. Ensure that the API performs well in different environments (e.g., testing, staging, production).
• Defect Identification and Troubleshooting:
  Identify defects in API functionality or performance, raise detailed bug reports, and work closely with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Performance Testing:
  Conduct performance testing of APIs, including load, stress, and scalability testing, and identify potential bottlenecks or areas for improvement.
• Test Data Management:
  Create and manage test data for API tests to ensure accurate and comprehensive test coverage.
• Continuous Improvement:
  Continuously improve test scripts, tools, and processes based on new technologies and testing trends. Stay up-to-date with the latest industry best practices and testing techniques.
• Collaboration:
  Work closely with developers, product managers, and other QA engineers to improve API test coverage and ensure API quality. Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Documentation:
  Document test cases, test execution results, and defect reports clearly and accurately for transparency and future reference.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Mandatory Skills:
  • Strong experience with API testing tools such as Postman, SoapUI, JMeter, RestAssured, or similar.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or Ruby for writing automation scripts.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integration of automated tests into these pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
  • Experience in testing web services, HTTP methods, and response status codes.
