About the Role

Define customs classification code for components, products, tooling, and equipment by partnering with engineering and procurement teams. Define export control classification code for components, products, tooling, equipment as well as for services for applicable jurisdictions. Collect and retain relevant information for future audit purposes.

What You Will Do
 

  • Analyze products/ components/tooling/equipment as well as services to determine classification
  • Provide guidance on classification decisions
  • Support Customs Authorities with classification rationale and audit history
  • Collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to get sufficient form/fit/function information to conclude customs classification
  • Engage early in NPI projects and finished good design
  • Maintain system records as source of truth
  • Provide support and scenario analysis for procurement and sales to support business decision with duty implication information
  • Define SOP and Process flow for classification globally
  • Administration of Customs Classification master data base.
  • Apply for and manage customs rulings and binding tariff information
  • Prepare and provide KPIS of performance
  • Master catalog administration for Customs Brokers

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree at Trade Compliance & related field.
  • Experience identifying tariff classifications in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff System.
  • Knowledge of export control classification
  • Experience with tariff rulings or binding tariff information application

What is Nice to Have

  • International trade or logistics degree preferred
  • Expertise with automotive parts and consumer electronics commodities is a plus

  • Be willing to travel up to 10% domestic and international travel
  • Be willing to work in an office or hybrid remote schedule with occasional trips into the office required (this could be on 24-hour notice)
  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
