About the Role

Harman Automotive is looking for an Engineering Leader to manage and run the Engineering Excellence charter for our Automotive Services business. The ideal candidate would be able to drive efficiency at all levels of Software Engineering disciplines and balance optimizations of processes, models, and initiatives to build a compelling centre of excellence.  Role requires building best-in-class Automotive SW Engineering organization considering GenAI, HW simulation in cloud, Model based development, virtual test beds, in-house and third-party AI tools for development and testing and much more. Ability to prioritize transformation objectives for engineering excellence based upon impact would be key to success.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct assessments for maturity of Agility, architecture, and conduct training to address gaps and new software engineering practices.
  • Work with engineering team of every portfolio to reduce customer escalations, production issues and slow delivery.
  • Bring in data-driven approach to prioritize optimal path for software development effectiveness.
  • Roll out improvement actions for engineering excellence by setting targets, monitor and control progress.
  • Focus on Clean code initiatives (Test Driven Development, Effective Code Reviews, Static Code Analysis, DORA metrics, Page 0 Metrics), Test Automation and CI/CD Pipelines implementations.
  • Conducting architecture and design reviews to ensure long term scalability, reliability, modularity and maintainability of product / platform.
  • Driving continuous learning, collaboration, and adaptation to emerging technologies and changing customer needs to achieve excellence goals.
  • Utilizing GenAI to improve productivity and effectiveness of SW Development
  • Initiatives to improve System Competency including modules like Vehicle function, System function and SW platform – that directly impacts performance, stability , scalability and robustness of the product​.
  • Build partnership with Excellence CoE, Automotive Quality Team, E/E Architecture Lab and Intelligent Cockpit Architecture Domain.
  • Introducing Virtual Test beds, Cloud-based simulations, model based development
  • Reusable assets and tools utilization through Innersource

Basic Requirements

  • Around 18+ years’ experience in SW Architecture, Engineering Delivery, SW Quality, pre-sales and product development in Automotive SW & Services
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred.
  • Experience of designing and building scalable and distributed software applications.
  • Automotive relevant experience which includes working with Automotive OEMs
  • Knowledge of automotive technologies and industry trends.
  • Knowledge of Software Engineering excellence and quality improvement initiatives
  • Experience working in a matrix, global organization by collaborating with key stakeholders
  • Results and detail-oriented: hold him/herself and others accountable for commitments
  • Effective C-Level communication skills
  • Creative problem-solver with the ability to work with a blank slate and inspire others.
  • Intellectual and curious with a passion for storytelling.
  • Experience pivoting and navigating dynamic and changing situations.
  • Proactive, self-sufficient, and professional, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about delivering powerful presentations.
  • Flexibility to work in office or remotely, travel for business and work in multiple time zones as needed
