About the Role
The Category Manager will be responsible for sourcing, contracting and designing a next generation supply chain of mechanical commodities, with the aim of supply chain and cost optimization and supplier consolidation.
What You Will Do
- Oversees and actively manages the end-to-end strategic sourcing and procurement process.
- Works as the interface of Professional Division with global sourcing on procedures, processes and strategy definition/implementation as well as tools implementation.
- Conducts RFI/RFQ/RFPs for projects requiring multiple bids, ensuring highest quality suppliers were selected, provide thought leadership during regular supplier evaluations, be proactive and based on market and business changes identify potential supply chain risks.
- Negotiates and implements commercial agreements and contracts catered to supply situations and ensures that they are aligned with a strategy to ensure business continuity through the agreements.
- Establishes strong vendor relationships, effectively manages category supply base, performs advanced and intricate negotiations to realize annual savings, and oversee selection of key vendors.
- Directs the negotiations of major contracts with suppliers to stabilize the commercial relationship and establishes processes to make sure that both parties are meeting their obligations.
- Maintains Purchase Info Records, Master Data and ERP files that drive the business at high data accuracy level.
- Organizes and leads regular business reviews (QBRs) with strategic suppliers to track, report and drive continuous improvement on vendor performance metrics.
- Conducts comprehensive supplier analysis and screening (strategic direction, financial due diligence, market position, power within industry, capabilities & capacity, risk assessment) and develop strategies for their portfolio with key business partners.
- Develops and executes category sourcing strategies in alignment with product roadmap and cross functional stakeholders at HARMAN to consolidate and optimize supply base.
- Identifies, tracks, and evaluates market changes and new technologies - makes appropriate fact-based recommendations for adoption by HARMAN stakeholders, actively monitors market trends and conducts market research/benchmarking as needed. Implements, and tracks these projects with the purpose of continuous cost reduction, supplier consolidation and supplier performance improvement.
- Influences key stakeholders within the BUs to secure resources in support of risk mitigation, savings projects, and sourcing strategy.
- Leads cross-functional Raw Material Risk Management negotiations to identify and reduce supply risk, potentional shortages and ensure continuous material availability at optimized costs.
- Oversees global supply chain and proactively monitors and optimize in scope with supplier consolidation opportunities of managed category
- Stremalines processes from roadmapping through selection of key suppliers, business case summarization and cares Vendor relations
- Responsible for supply assurance and inventory flexibility programs (VMI) that increase flexibility and minimize liabilities.
- Creates and develops a strategic supplier relocation plan in line with the Global category that fosters the highest level of commitment to continuous improvement in product quality, cost, and delivery within the category assigned worldwide, for the Professional Division.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Proficiency in English both written and verbal communication
- Ability to be innovative in issues related to strategic sourcing, supplier relations, supplier performance measurement system
- Excellent data analytics and presentation skills (cost modeling, quotation analysis, supplier selection and supply/demand analysis)
- Excellent communication and influencing skills dealing with supply base executives
- Global category operations or sourcing experience
- Minimum 5+ years of procurement/operations experience.
- Prior experience in sourcing and negotiating direct materials and finished goods using strategic category management techniques to achieve results.
- Must possess the social intelligence to influence contractual negotiations to benefit HARMAN’s position

- Due to the nature of global infrastructure, you understand that flexibility in working hours is required.
