About the Role

In this role, you will be a member of an international automotive development team, responsible for the mechanical design of microphones, sensors, and laboratory test equipment. For an engineer, it is a great opportunity because you can combine theoretical knowledge with practical realization as the prototype sample build is also part of the daily activities. The general mechanical engineering mindset can be extended to acoustical area and integration of electronics. You will also have a chance to participate in direct communication with production sites, suppliers and OEM customers as well.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and verify feasible, cost-effective and reliable mechanical product designs utilizing CAD tools such as CREO.

  • Manage the release of HARMAN design data and documentation in PLM system such as Teamcenter.

  • Support test equipment developments and prototypes builds.

  • Handling 3D printers, laser-cutter, labor instruments.

  • Fully understand customer requirements in terms of content, performance, quality, reliability, engineering standards, dimensional requirements and limitations etc.

  • Assistance in quality control in different steps of processes (purchasing, production, design, development etc.).

  • Create and assist in the creation of Bills of Materials.

  • Support design for manufacturing (DFM).

  • Support quality inspection teams by technical problem solving on incoming products.

  • Participate in product development design reviews internally with development teams.

  • Support failure investigation and root cause analysis for new launches. Write reports to summarize results and communicate lessons learned.

  • Manage the release of engineering models and drawings etc. by administrating designated data management system.

  • Prepare technical reports and presentations.

  • Provide post-production design support.

  • Support departmental initiatives and activities as directed by the department supervisor.

  • Provide technical support and guidance for the resolution of various customer and interdepartmental issues, as required.

  • Perform all tasks your supervisor gives you verbally or in writing that necessary to be completed by your department.

  • Observe and/or comply with occupational safety, accident prevention, fire protection, environmental protection, electric shock protection and ESD regulations.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • CAD software knowledge (preference: CREO).

  • Complex technical thinking.

  • Fluent English.

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Experience in injection molding, plastic design.

  • Knowledge of different 3D printing technologies.

  • Skills in handcraft sample builds.

  • Automotive supplier experience.
