Researcher - Global Consumer Insights

We are at a critical time in the insights industry, with so much “data” at our fingertips.  And it’s imperative that we sift through the noise to uncover the true insights that will drive our business forward.  We at HARMAN have been making the investment to understand our brands across the world to accelerate our cultural relevance and growth.

Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Researcher - Global Consumer Insights will be responsible for projects from start to finish to help guide brand and marketing strategy, all in service of increasing our competitiveness.

We are looking for a talented Senior Researcher - Global Consumer Insights that is passionate about working with data to find the insights needed to drive strategic decision making.

What You Will Do

  •  As a key member of the global consumer insights team you will lead and manage consumer insight projects for the EMEA region
  • Identify and translate EMEA business and marketing challenges into actionable consumer insights and new projects  
  • Integrate media insights by partnering with Havas (global media agency) and by analyzing media spend, campaign performance and Marketing Mix Models (ROI)
  • Manage EMEA campaign performance scorecards and brand health reporting aligned with global measurement process
  • Derive market intelligence insights through market share analysis, reporting and industry trends
  • Lead ad hoc consumer research for EMEA NPI (New Product Innovation) and creative copy testing
  • Manage social media influencer insights by quantifying business impact and deriving insights
  • Identify new tools and capabilities to improve cost, timing and quality of insights delivery

What You Need to Be Successful

  • 5+ years of experience with proven success.
  • Bachelor's degree in Market Research, Statistics, Sociology, Marketing/Business or related field (masters degree preferred).
  • Primary and secondary research experience (both quantitative and qualitative) with the ability to manage studies from design phase to reporting phase.
  • Expertise in media performance insights, market mix modeling (application) and media analytics with the ability to identify strategic and tactical insights
  • Expertise with social media performance platforms, such as BrandWatch, Traackr and Meltwater, with the ability to derive insights and quantify value
  • Comfortable using survey platforms and database tools such as Qualtrics, DisplayR, Power BI, Qlik Sense, GFK, and Circana
  • Mastery in data manipulation and ability to interpret large amounts of data and simplify complex ideas.
  • Outstanding communicator (oral and written) and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data, input, and intuition to inform decisions.
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Office software required, including high proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in a highly matrix organization and across different regions, ideally in a global role.

  • A clear and strategic thinker with proven experience in translating strategies into actionable plans.
  • Capable of handling multiples projects / initiatives simultaneously and executing to completion.
  • Self-starter with superior organization skills who thrives in a deadline-driven environment, i.e will do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical reasoning and problem-solving
  • Curious mindset, with enthusiasm working with data, high attention to detail, and sense of accountability.
  • Multi-Cultural awareness and ability to adjust communication accordingly.
  • Large brand and/or major retail client experience.
  • Experience at a media agency and/or market research agency (i.e. Ipsos, Kantar, Nielsen etc.).

What Makes You Eligible

  • Due to the nature of global infrastructure, you understand that flexibility in working hours is required.
  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
  • This role is eligible to work remotely with weekly trips into the Amsterdam office as scheduled or requested (this could be on 24-hour notice).
