About the Role
The responsibility of the Resident Electrical Integration Engineer is to provide customer-facing electrical/software technical interface support for the pursuit, development, integration, and production launch of Harman’s products into customer vehicles. The specific responsibilities can include providing customer engineering interface, troubleshooting issues, supporting vehicle builds, supporting vehicle launch, and coordinating data with customer data systems. The tasks will change depending on the customer, product, and phase of development/launch.
Your Team
The Resident Electrical Integration Engineer will report into the Customer Engineering Team Manager and will have no direct reports.
What You Will Do
- Support customer engineering in technical operations for product electrical/software development, validation, and product release.
- Maintaining customer test benches with the latest Harman product samples and provide initial troubleshooting, data collection, and triage of issues on customer test benches, vehicles, and/or manufacturing plants.
- Technical support for analysis of warranty parts and provide field/dealership support as necessary.
- Facilitate the customer change management process including accessing the customer systems, inputting technical requirements and/or responses, and tracking change approval.
- Responsible for leading the electrical/software integration of the product into the vehicle.
What You Need
- At least 5+ years of customer-facing or design engineering experience or equivalent with a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Knowledge and experience with electrical/software products and technologies including knowledge of the target customer specific PDM (Product Data Management), PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), and databases.
- Ability to complete administrative tasks related to supporting product development, testing, and release.
- Experience problem solving complex mechanical technical issues with electronics products being integrated into vehicles.
- Skill with communicating and coordinating complex technical concepts both with internal and external stakeholders.
What is Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in an engineering field.
- Prior experience as a customer-facing engineer, application engineer, or design engineer for automotive electronics products.
- Direct experience with applicable customer.
What Makes You Eligible
- Be willing to travel up to 15% domestic and international travel.
- Be willing to work in an office, manufacturing facility, client-site.
- This position requires the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle. As such, any offer of employment will be contingent upon having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in HARMAN’s sole discretion, no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years.
- Successfully complete a background investigation/Aptitude Test as a condition of employment.
