About the Role

The System Performance Expert is responsible for managing all aspects of system performance from architectural design down to debugging & pre-analyzing of measurement results & defects occurring in the system during the development lifecycle. He is responsible for the specification of Key Performing Indicators of our systems to meet the customer expectations and in an overarching function, he leads the cross-domain teams to achieve the performance goals.

What You Will Do

  • Check & control concepts in the project architectural designs to achieve performance targets
  • Apply performance related working practices, methods and tools. Ensure alignment within Harman and with customer, 3rd parties and automotive standards
  • Check and control the performance specific Trace & Debug architecture & tools
  • Drive clarification of performance requirements with domain stakeholders to ensure sustainable solutions.
  • Define and monitor resource budgets according to the architectural design
  • Define reliable methods and use cases to verify continuously and automatically the KPIs
  • Ensure continuous KPI test execution and evaluate the results. Assign performance findings to the appropriate SW domain and align results with customer
  • Provide reports of the results and suitable action plans on demand to PM and to the customer
  • Agree on suitable trace markers and use cases with SW domains in order to ensure reliable and automated KPI measurements
  • Supervision of SW domain specialists to improve their sub-system architecture design in terms of performance
  • Provide solution proposals for errors where applicable, actively steering the bug-fixing by technical coordination of all involved parties with multiple dependencies
  • Provide performance statistics to the teams
  • Review of SW code and design concepts
  • Apply state-of-the-art methods to ensure and optimize SW quality

What You Need

  • Bachelor or Master degree in computer science or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in software development with focus on embedded Linux or Android systems
  • Experience in system inspection, especially CPU resource monitoring
  • Proven knowledge of Trace & Debugging tools & architecture
  • Profound knowledge of Linux SW Performance evaluation & Problem solving
  • Professional skills in C/C++ and shell programming, Python is beneficial
  • Practical experience in technical coordinating/collaboration with distributed international engineering teams
  • Self-driven, autonomous and systematic way of working
  • Good communication and technical presentation skills
  • Fluent English communication skills both written and verbal

What is Nice to Have

  • Knowledge in Ethernet, TCP/IP networking, IPC mechanisms
  • Knowledge of Automotive Cyber Security concepts
  • Good understanding of embedded hardware and software architectures
