About the Role

As the Technical Translator, Car Audio, you will be responsible for helping Harman’s Japan Car Audio Engineering Team (as well as overseas teams) interpret our customer’s needs and requirements while helping Harman convey our responses and proposals to our partners and customers in Japan as we work together to create the world’s best audio experiences.


What You Will Do

  • Support the language interpretation needs (Japanese to English and English to Japanese) of Japan Car Audio Engineering teams in written and verbal form
  • Become an expert in the technical terminology used within Harman and at our Japan customers / partners to provide accurate translations.
  • Provide in-person, as well as virtual, language interpretation for meetings in written and verbal forms as needed
  • Translate customer requirements / communications for Harman’s internal teams (usually Japanese to English)
  • Translate Harman’s responses to customer requests and requirements (usually English to Japanese)
  • Support communication between Harman’s Japan Office and global Harman Offices
  • Provide communication / meeting support to Team as requested by Executive Director for Japan Car Audio Engineering

What You Need

  • BA in Interpretation, English Communication, or similar field of study
  • Fluency in Japanese and English
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in interpretation in a technical setting
  • Comfortable communicating w/ global teams in English (& Japanese).

What is Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with terminology in automotive electronics / audio fields
  • Familiarity with working at a Japan OEM or a foreign Tier 1 supplier

What Makes You Eligible

  • Be willing to travel up to 10%, domestic and international travel
  • Be willing to work in an office in Nagoya, Japan
