About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Kafka Developer with over 5+ years of hands-on experience in managing and deploying Kafka environments, specifically IBM EventStream (Kafka). The ideal candidate will play a critical role in developing and maintaining robust streaming pipelines, implementing Change Data Capture (CDC) mechanisms, and ensuring seamless data integration across multiple platforms. A strong foundation in DevOps practices and security protocols like TLS, SSL and SASL is essential for this role.

What You Will Do

Key Responsibilities:

1. Kafka Management & Deployment:

  • Manage, deploy, and optimize IBM EventStream (Kafka) environments for high availability and performance.
  • Configure Kafka clusters to ensure scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
  • Monitor Kafka performance metrics and implement tuning strategies.
     

2. Streaming Pipeline Development:

  • Design, develop, and maintain streaming pipelines leveraging CDC (Change Data Capture) techniques.
  • Create and manage database tables to support real-time data streaming requirements.
  • Ensure efficient data flow and transformation for downstream applications.
     

3. Kafka Configuration & Integration:

  • Set up and manage Kafka users, topics, and Kafka Connect configurations.
  • Work extensively with Debezium for CDC implementations with MySQL, NoSQL, and JDBC source connectors.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain Kafka source and sink connectors for seamless data integration.

4. DevOps & Infrastructure Management:

  • Manage Red Hat OpenShift services to support containerized applications.
  • Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools like Git Bash, GitHub, Bit bucket, Bamboo, and Nexus.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline deployment processes.

5. Security & Compliance:

  • Handle authorization and authentication using TLS and SASL protocols.
  • Enforce security best practices to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Conduct regular security audits and performance assessments.


What You Need to Be Successful

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Kafka development and management.
  • Strong expertise in IBM EventStream (Kafka) deployment and cluster management.
  • In-depth knowledge of CDC mechanisms, particularly using Debezium with MySQL, NoSQL, and JDBC.
  • Proficiency with Kafka Connect, source/sink connectors, and related ecosystem tools.
  • Experience managing Red Hat OpenShift environments and container orchestration.
  • Strong DevOps skills with CI/CD tools like Bamboo, GitHub, Bitbucket, Git Bash, and Nexus.
  • Expertise in TLS and SASL security protocols for secure data transmission.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, collaborative environments with strong problem-solving skills.

Bonus Points if You Have  

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

What Makes You Eligible

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, Java, and shell scripting.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in complex systems.
