As the Mechanical Engineer, you will oversee the research, development, and design of the engineering loudspeaker systems projects throughout all phases of the product design lifecycle. You will also be designing for various materials and processes such as plastic injection/compression molding, die casting, metal machining, metal forming/stamping, and welded assemblies, utilizing extensive material finishing and cosmetic treatments. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, advanced mechanical engineering experience, and a good understanding of professional loudspeaker systems while being a self-starter, managing multiple tasks, and working with minimal supervision. This is an opportunity to join an elite product development team.
What You Will Do
- Design and develop complex mechanical systems, components and assemblies for loudspeaker cabinets, transducers, suspension components, brackets, and fixtures among others.
- Research design options and perform DOE studies to determine potential design feasibility or application. Explore new and existing materials and methods to solve design and/or cost challenges
- Create and implement suitable tests to verify designs meet mechanical requirements including applicable international safety regulatory aspects. Prepare and present technical reports.
- Perform structural, thermal analyses and topology optimization of components and assemblies using finite element analysis (FEA) software
- Conduct in-depth tolerance analysis and apply GD&T at sub-assembly and full system level
What You Need
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree, with 4+ years related engineering experience
- Proficiency in the use of design and analytical tools such as 3D CAD modeling and simulation tools for the design of complex mechanical structures
- Familiarity with standard fabrication, welding, and machining practices
- Thorough understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Work as a self-starter, manage multiple tasks, and work with minimal supervision in a collaborative multi-disciplined team environment
What is Nice to Have
- Structural engineering knowledge for rigging and suspension system design
- Previous experience in loudspeaker design/manufacturing
- Experience designing components for injection molding, die casting, woodworking, sheet metal, stamping, CNC machining, compression molding, hot/cold forging, etc. utilizing Solidworks
- Experience working with suppliers and in-region teams to define and refine tooling, fixtures, and assembly capabilities
- Familiarity with drawing standards such as ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5.
What Makes You Eligible
- Willingness to work in an office in Northridge, CA.
