About the Role
The Procurement Specialist is owning and driving cross sub-category projects for direct material that supports the overall business strategy, new initiatives implementation, steering of supplier events and internal cross-functional alignment. The successful candidate will assure creation of the appropriate reporting structure, KPI systematic, and the appropriate tracking set up to assure the implementation of the related initiatives and projects within Category Management. The Procurement Specialist Category Management will be responsible for delivering an elaborated basis for strategic decisions and management approvals, guides sub-categories to define and implement strategy, takes over supplier coordination, set up of the reporting and negotiation processes, within the Electronics and eMechanical categories.
What You Will Do
- Stakeholder Collaboration: framing of supplier meetings & events (fairs like Electronica, CES, QBRs, special negotiation events, summits), up to C-level and assuring the respective preparation. This includes briefing template preparation, arranging of briefing sessions with key stakeholders and aligning the agendas and slide decks cross sub-categories.
- Category Strategy Management: Independently guide categories to prepare category strategy, including strategy slide deck, strategy meetings with suppliers and internal stakeholders in close alignment with global category strategy and respective Strategy Director
- Reporting: design and set up trackers for the progress of procurement initiatives & events within Global Category e.g. the annual negotiations, prepare monthly scorecards for top management
- Budgeting: perform plausibility checks on budget values on behalf of the management team of Global category, work with Controlling and ProX to improve the data quality, steer bottom-up target setting definition, establish a structured data exchange with ODM/EMS team as basis for negotiations, ensure contractual coverage (MPA) and award letters signature.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records for all tasks, including trackers, meeting notes, and reporting files, ensuring accessibility for the team. Design and maintain an intuitive sharepoint structure.
- Collaboration in Improvement Projects: collaborate with stakeholders within and outside procurement on improvement projects for Electronics and eMechanics, contribute to the design and implementation of initiatives that enhance procurement effectiveness and efficiency, support change management efforts to ensure successful adoption of new processes and systems, provide guidance and support to CMs on process-related matters.
- Special projects: depending on complexity lead or support Electronics/eMechanicals team projects for new initiatives like supplier diversification, sustainability workshops, new logistic model introductions at suppliers, memory share changes in BOMs, NGT7 stock transfer negotiations with Continental, activities in the context of the resilience of supply chain related to Harman’s manufacturing footprint strategy.
What You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Management, Materials Management, International Business or related field.
- 3-5 years of procurement or supply chain management experience
- Demonstrated experience within a global, multicultural, multi-location organization
- Ability to speak clearly in groups and in one-to-one conversations incl. top management level, ability to coordinate cross-functional teams
- Excellent analytical, collaboration, organizational and problem-solving skills, including the proven ability to manage multiple activities in parallel with effective stress management
- Basic knowledge of procurement processes and strong relationship building skills
- Advanced skills in structuring, MS Office Teams/Excel and creation of presentations
What is Nice to Have

- Previous Electronics/ Mechanical/ Outsourcing category sourcing experience
- Experience in managing cross-discipline projects
