About the Role
You will lead and own business architecture design, process development, and system development from a Change and Configuration Management perspective, in a specific business domain connected to our central PLM & Quality Systems Environment.
Your Domain focus area is Design Quality. The domain focuses on processes and tools that focus on first time-right principles and mitigating risk in design, within and connected to the Central PLM and Quality Systems at Harman cradle to grave. Focus areas include Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), System Architecture & Systems Engineering, Requirement Review / Linkage, linkage to lessons learned to build Quality into our Design & Development processes early (shift left) and achieve closed loop quality.
Domains you will work closely on the team with include Design and Development (ex. MCAD, ECAD, BOM, Variants), Manufacturing (ex. Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plan), Issues and Problem Solving, and how Harman sets foundational elements for Model Based Engineering.
You will immediately jump into global, high-impact projects. For example, leading Design FMEA in Teamcenter PLM melding Systems & Process together while also being a part of impactful cultural change. Scope of work is the standardization of Teamcenter FMEA, migration from other systems (ex APIS), and implementation of new enhancements, connections to Requirement Management in Doors Next Gen (DNG), and connection to Product Data in Teamcenter PLM.
Configuration Management means the process of building an enterprise with Clear, Concise, and Valid information that is Changed, Integrated, and managed throughout the Product Lifecycle achieving process excellence.
You will work with members of your team (ex. System Engineers, other domain leads), our Digital IT Group, and with functional areas of the business (ex. Engineering, Program Management), to architect, build, test, launch, and own solutions from a CM perspective (Data & Change) to achieve operational excellence.
You will learn the system capabilities, so you can work closely with our team and Digital IT teams to solve complex process and system issues enabling successful design, deployment, and integration in the Configuration Management Systems with related enterprise system enablers (PLM, ERP, MES, ALM).
Portfolio of Technology enablers includes Enterprise Systems (ex. Siemens Teamcenter, Opcenter), Low-Code Development (ex. Mendix), Analytics (ex. QLIK), and Various Database/Data Structure frameworks (ex, Snowflake, Databricks).
This role will function at a highly collaborative, leadership, Business Process Design & Architecture level to lead transformation in the business operations.
What You Will Do
- Act as a business process architect and owner of the Change and Configuration process for an assigned domain area, focused on scalability and integration to the HARMAN business operations.
- Run, own, and deliver projects end to end in your given domain, to implement new process capabilities or improve existing processes
- Act as an owner with Business Functional Areas by storyboarding, process mapping, and architecting on how the fundamentals of Change and Configuration Solutions will work, for a given new technology, module, and/or process
- Lead, own and drive how master data will be established and managed through the CMII change process and CMII Baseline
- Develop in-depth knowledge of systems and processes in the domain area, to partner and build the right solutions and procedures.
- Work closely with your teammates who run Configuration Management operations to solve complex problems and support with exceptional tool and process design.
- Identify potential issues in change and quality management, formulating problem statements and developing solutions.
- Continuous creativity and curiosity, to be thinking “two steps ahead” and driving our business to operational excellence both in process, systems, and people.
- Performing as necessary administrative tasks in the Domain area as defined or required.
- Support business departments in your domain, with the solutions and processes launched.
- Perform Root Cause problem solving on complex business processes and system issues to enable continuous improvement and achievement of Quality & PLM phase objectives.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Relevant technical Bachelor or equivalent from an accredited college or university in Engineering or relevant degree to the Domain area
- 5 years working experience with the area in an Automotive Supplier or OEM.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver projects and practice Risk-Management
- Demonstrated skill and knowledge in the Domain Area
- Demonstrated experience with FMEA Methodologies & Systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create effective presentations and project documentation.
- Strong competence in collaboration tools (Confluence, JIRA, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams).
- Exceptionally self-motivated and directed while ability to work in teams and motivate others in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Bonus Points if You Have
- AIAG Certification
- Masters Degree
- Experience with Teamcenter or other PLM Applications
- Experience with FMEA Software APIS IQ, Teamcenter, etc.
- CMII Configuration Management certification (Certified or Professional)
- Professional certification in change management / project management
- Knowledge and application of continuous improvement philosophies
