The Global Credits and Incentives Leader is responsible for transforming the organization’s approach to government credits, incentives, and grants from an opportunistic model to a strategic, targeted approach that maximizes enterprise value. This role focuses on identifying, securing, optimizing, and governing government incentives by establishing and managing global standards for credits and incentives across regions and functions.
The role collaborates closely with regional teams and cross-functional stakeholders to provide governance, implement standardized processes, and drive financial performance across global operations. He or she oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of incentives—from opportunity identification and pursuit to administration and compliance—ensuring the organization captures and sustains the maximum available financial benefit.
This role will report to the Automotive Finance Transformation Office, which will incubate, develop, and scale the function to deliver its full strategic and financial value to the organization.
What You Will Do
Operating Model and Process Governance
- Define an operating model, standards, and a way of working to maximize the credits and incentives across the regions/functions.
- Work with a cross-functional team to design and implement end-to-end management processes (from opportunity identification through pursuit, through incentive administration, and compliance)
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of global credit and incentive processes.
- Support the adoption and optimization of digital platforms for managing credits and incentives globally. Promote best practices and consistent governance across regions.
Incentive Strategy & Opportunity Identification
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including tax, legal, finance, operations, and regional leadership, to ensure a cohesive, coordinated approach to incentive opportunities.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to track/monitor evolving public policy environments across regions/countries to identify potential funding, grants, and tax credit opportunities. Assess ethical, legal, and reputational considerations while pursuing incentive opportunities.
- Work with project teams to ensure timely execution of grant deliverables and reporting requirements. Partner with functional/ regional teams to identify and prioritize government incentive opportunities aligned with company strategies and operational priorities.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maximize value from incentive programs.
- Ensure efficient use of external advisory resources within budget constraints.
Incentive Portfolio Management
- Lead and govern the portfolio of Incentive programs end-to-end incentive lifecycle, including pursuit, negotiation, compliance, and administration.
- Develop structured strategies and execution plans to pursue and secure incentives effectively across regions. Coach/mentor, support global and regional initiatives leads
- Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and filing requirements are fulfilled to maintain eligibility for incentives.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Professional certification in the areas of finance or tax.
- 10+ years of Leadership experience in building and shaping a Global function. Ability to work across geographies and with culturally diverse teams. Ability to build trusting relationships across functions, businesses, and geographies.
- Strategic thinking and financial modeling capability. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of global tax credits, economic incentives, and government funding programs. Partner with cross-functional teams to track/monitor evolving public policy environments across regions/countries to identify potential funding. Moderate understanding of tax and financial incentives in one or more countries.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including interaction with senior leaders.
- Demonstrates independent judgment and strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience managing external consultant relationships.
Bonus Points if You Have
- Experience, in-house or consulting, pursuing strategic investment incentives and administering processes to meet government requirements.
- Organizational change management experience.
- Experience in global, multi-cultural companies.
