- Combine ingenuity, in-depth research, and a spirit of collaboration with design and engineering excellence
- Advance in-vehicle infotainment, safety, efficiency, and enjoyment
About the Role
As an EMC Engineer, you will be responsible for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design, validation, and verification activities for automotive electronic systems. You will work closely with hardware development, system engineering, and test teams to ensure products meet internal, customer, and regulatory EMC requirements throughout the development lifecycle. This is an individual contributor role within the hardware engineering organization.
What You Will Do
- Analyze applicable EMC standards, OEM requirements, and internal specifications.
- Support EMC concept definition during schematic and PCB layout design phases.
- Perform EMC simulations and assessments at board and system level to identify risks.
- Plan and execute EMC pre-compliance and compliance testing (emissions, immunity, ESD, surge).
- Set up and operate EMC test environments and laboratory equipment.
- Evaluate measurement results and identify deviations or potential risks.
- Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective countermeasures.
- Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, and system engineers to resolve EMC issues.
- Create and maintain test reports, verification documentation, and technical presentations.
- Support design reviews, FMEAs, and release decisions from an EMC perspective.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- Several years of experience in EMC design, testing, or validation for electronic systems.
- Solid understanding of EMC fundamentals and automotive EMC standards (e.g. CISPR 25, ISO 11452, ISO 7637, IEC 61000‑x).
- Hands-on experience with EMC measurement equipment (spectrum analyzers, LISNs, oscilloscopes, antennas, probes).
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and PCB layouts.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills in English.
Bonus Points if You Have
- Experience with EMC simulation tools (e.g. HFSS, CST, SIwave, LTspice).
- Knowledge of automotive communication interfaces (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I²C).
- Experience working with external test houses and certification bodies.
- iNARTE or comparable EMC-related certification.
What Makes You Eligible
- Willingness to work in a hybrid environment (office and remote).
- Willingness to travel occasionally depending on project needs.
What We Offer
- Flexible work environment
- Access to employee discounts on world-class Harman and Samsung products (JBL, HARMAN Kardon, AKG, etc.)
- Extensive training opportunities through our own HARMAN University
- Competitive wellness benefits
- “Be Brilliant” employee recognition and rewards program
