Engineer audio systems and integrated technology platforms that augment the driving experience
Combine ingenuity, in-depth research, and a spirit of collaboration with design and engineering excellence
Advance in-vehicle infotainment, safety, efficiency, and enjoyment
About the Role
As a BIOS Engineer, you will play a key role in enabling new hardware designs by developing, integrating, and debugging low-level software components. You will contribute to the design and development of an integrated embedded hardware verification platform (BIOS) that supports Automotive Intelligent Cockpit projects and products.
This position will leverage your expertise in embedded systems and hardware, working closely with hardware, validation, and production teams throughout the hardware development lifecycle to ensure functionality, reliability, and seamless bring-up.
You will report directly to the Engineering Manager and collaborate within a multidisciplinary environment where hardware and software innovation meet.
What You Will Do
- Provide early hardware bring-up support for new projects by developing and maintaining software tools used to verify hardware functionality.
- Perform board bring-up activities for new designs, including clock configuration, memory initialization, peripheral validation, and power sequencing.
- Develop and maintain low-level drivers, bootloaders, and BSP components (e.g., UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, Ethernet).
- Collaborate with the hardware team during schematic design and prototyping to ensure design-for-bring-up best practices.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a shared BIOS platform layer to accelerate future development.
- Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab tools to diagnose and resolve communication and timing issues.
- Develop or enhance automated test and flashing scripts to streamline bring-up workflows.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Automation, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in C/C++ programming on Linux or embedded systems.
- Strong understanding of microcontroller architecture and peripheral interfaces.
- Proven experience with board bring-up and debugging hardware–software interactions.
- Knowledge of bootloaders, linker scripts, memory mapping, and startup code.
- Proficiency with embedded toolchains (e.g., GCC, IAR, GreenHills, Lauterbach, etc.).
- Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and similar lab tools.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and documentation skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities in a cross-functional, global team.
Bonus Points if You Have
- Experience with automotive MCUs such as Renesas RH850, NXP S32K, or Infineon TriCore.
- Familiarity with Ethernet PHYs and interfaces (e.g., SGMII, RGMII, USXGMII).
- Basic scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation.
- Knowledge of AUTOSAR MCAL.
- Understanding of EMC, RF, or video interfaces (e.g., MIPI, LVDS).
What Makes You Eligible
- Ideally you live in or near Bucharest or are willing to relocate.
- This is a hybrid role but availability in the office is required at least once per week.
- Willingness to perform hands-on lab work during hardware bring-up and validation phases.
