Description & Requirements
A Career at HARMAN
We’re a global, multi-disciplinary team that’s putting the innovative power of technology to work and transforming tomorrow. At HARMAN Automotive, we give you the keys to fast-track your career.
Engineer audio systems and integrated technology platforms that augment the driving experience
Combine ingenuity, in-depth research, and a spirit of collaboration with design and engineering excellence
Advance in-vehicle infotainment, safety, efficiency, and enjoyment
About the Role
As a Hardware Intern, you will support the hardware engineering team in the design, development, testing, and documentation of automotive infotainment computer systems and platforms. You will work closely with experienced engineers, gaining hands-on experience in a real product development environment while contributing to ongoing projects.
This internship is part of the Ready Upgrade organisation, working on a product-grade, upgradable cockpit platform used to accelerate customer time-to-market.
This is a 6‑month internship (full‑time or part‑time) with a hybrid working model; on‑site preferred due to laboratory and bring‑up activities.
What You’ll Gain
Hands-on exposure to real automotive hardware development (verification, bring‑up, debugging, documentation)
Mentorship from senior engineers and access to professional lab equipment and tools
Practical experience using modern, AI‑assisted ways of working to improve engineering efficiency (reports, analysis, documentation) while maintaining engineering validation
Potential pathway to a long‑term role based on performance and business needs
What You Will Do
Verification & testing of analogue and digital functional blocks (e.g. power supply, DRAM, SOC)
Schematic & PCB design dedicated tasks with support from senior engineers
Support rework, bring-up and HW debugging activities.
Operate laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analysers, etc.)
Document test results, maintain engineering documentation (test reports, design files), and provide structured feedback to the team.
Assist in preparing technical presentations, design reviews, and internal reports
Signal & Power integrity simulation assisted by a senior engineer.
Contribute ideas for improving product performance or process efficiency in team meetings
Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate drafting of test procedures/reports, summarisation of measurement results, and documentation cleanup — always validating outputs with engineering judgment
What You Need to be Successful
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related fields
Basic knowledge of analogue and digital electronics
Schematic & PCB Design basics
Lab equipment usage & HW debugging basics
Digital interfaces baseline: familiarity with commonly used interfaces in infotainment systems (UART, I2C, I2S, USB) and the mindset to troubleshoot signals and bring up issues methodically
Good knowledge of spoken and written English
Proactivity, structured communication, and strong problem‑solving habits
Comfortable using AI-assisted tools to accelerate engineering work (documentation, analysis of measurements, report drafting) while validating outputs and handling data responsibly
Evidence of excellence via meaningful lab work/projects (university, personal projects, competitions) and disciplined documentation habits
Bonus Points if You Have
Signal & Power Integrity basics
Basic command shell programming/shell debugging (e.g., routines to control hardware units under the HARMAN operating system)
Familiarity with schematic and PCB design tools(e.g. Mentor Graphics)
Knowledge of simulation tools (e.g. LTSpice, Ansys)
What Makes You Eligible
Hybrid working model; on‑site preferred (Bucharest) due to lab measurements, bring‑up, and hardware debugging activities
Availability for the 6‑month internship (full‑time or part‑time)
What We Offer
Flexible work environment
Access to employee discounts on world-class Harman and Samsung products (JBL, HARMAN Kardon, AKG, etc.)
Extensive training opportunities through our own HARMAN University
Competitive wellness benefits
“Be Brilliant” employee recognition and rewards program
An inclusive and diverse work environment that fosters and encourages professional and personal development
