About the Role
The Head of HR - Mexico will report into the VP, HR Global Automotive Operations. This results-driven HR professional will design and implement the HR strategic roadmap for the region, provide HR leadership, advice and direction to managers and employees, as well as lead and develop a high performing HR team to deliver quality service to the internal client base.
Your Team
This position will have 8-10 direct reports and manage a team of approximately 130 with a charge to lead a team of HR professionals to make significant contributions to the HR function and the company overall to support 6,000+ employees in manufacturing and the engineering center in Mexico.
What You Will Do
- Design and implement the HR strategic roadmap for the region to ensure HR tools, policies, systems and processes meet a diverse and growing workforce to attract and retain talent, and to meet quality and compliance requirements.
- Provide HR leadership, advice and direction to managers and employees in areas such as recruiting, onboarding, talent development, succession planning, organizational development, performance management, workforce planning, compensation and compliance.
- Lead and develop a high performing HR team to deliver quality functional guidance, business insights and service to the internal client base.
- In partnership with Global Rewards, manage and oversee compensation and rewards administration processes including the annual merit increases, bonus plan calculations and payout, recognition program efficacy and compliance, and job benchmarking activities
- Review and analyze compensation and benefits structures and programs to ensure the right balance is struck between cost and ensuring HARMAN maintains a competitive position in the marketplace
- Drive utilization of HARMAN University programs to develop leadership, technology, functional and business skills/knowledge; manage and develop local training and re-skilling programs targeting students and trade workers
- Implement plans to support HARMAN values and culture; drive employee engagement and retention with a focus on key talent segments
- Develop and execute plans to promote HARMAN’s employer brand and position HARMAN as a great place to work that incorporates the Corporate EVP while driving points of differentiation locally; organize social and community activities to engage the company with the community and support Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives
- Accurately interpret, counsel, communicate and educate managers and staff on HR policies and procedures
- Drive digitization in HR in partnership with Global HRIS; develop and implement regional HR dashboard and workforce plan with KPIs; leverage insights to adjust future strategies and plans
- Partner with Global Mobility and respective HR partners to provide support to international transferees
- Drive excellence in EH&S practices in alignment with corporate guidance and in compliance with external requirements of reputed agencies
What You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in business related field
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in human resources, talent management, compensation and employee relations in a large, global organization focused primarily on leading all HR activities for the region to support both manufacturing and non-manufacturing employees
- Experience developing and implementing processes, policies and solutions across multiple locations to meet the diverse needs of the professional and skilled trade workforce
- Excellent understanding of local labor law and practices and demonstrated success in directly managing union negotiations
- Track record and experience in key expertise areas including recruiting, talent management, performance management, compensation and benefits, organizational design, and change management
- Track for developing and implementing best-in-class talent strategies to meet the current and future human capital requirements in the region.
- A business and customer-centric mindset, capable of translating business goals into actionable HR plans
What is Nice to Have
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Relevant HR certifications e.g. SPHR or PHR designations
What Makes You Eligible
- Willingness to travel; approximately 20%
- Willingness to work in an office in Queretaro or Juarez
