Description & Requirements
Introduction: A Career at HARMAN Automotive
We’re a global, multi-disciplinary team that’s putting the innovative power of technology to work and transforming tomorrow. At HARMAN Automotive, we give you the keys to fast-track your career.
Engineer audio systems and integrated technology platforms that augment the driving experience
Combine ingenuity, in-depth research, and a spirit of collaboration with design and engineering excellence
Advance in-vehicle infotainment, safety, efficiency, and enjoyment
About the Role
As an intern in our Connectivity organization, you will contribute to embedded software development for Telematics Control Units (TCUs) for European customers — from implementing features and unit tests to debugging system behavior and supporting integration quality.
This is a 6‑month internship (full‑time or part‑time) designed for final‑year students with strong fundamentals, a hands‑on mindset, and the ambition to grow fast.
What You’ll Gain
Hands‑on experience with production-grade embedded software in an automotive environment
Mentorship, technical learning sessions, and structured feedback are part of our internship program framework
Exposure to system-level problem solving (robustness, stability, timing) and quality practices used in automotive development
Potential pathway to a long‑term role based on performance and business needs
What You Will Do
Implement embedded C++ functionality and write unit / white-box tests based on design documentation
Debug and improve software quality: bug fixing, maintenance, and incremental feature additions across existing embedded code
Analyze issues related to time response, stability, and robustness at component and system level; support root-cause investigations.
Contribute to connectivity/networking-related work (e.g., understanding traffic flows, interfaces, logs, and failure modes in connected systems)
Demonstrated AI‑assisted productivity (prompting, tool usage, automation mindset) applied to real engineering tasks such as log triage, code comprehension, unit testing, or documentation — without compromising quality or confidentiality
What You Need to Be Successful
Final year (or close to graduation) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, IT, or similar
Solid C++ fundamentals in an embedded context.
Linux fundamentals (command line, basic tooling, debugging mindset)
Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP basics, client-server concepts, packet/log-driven troubleshooting mindset)
Strong English communication skills (written & spoken)
Strong academic results and/or meaningful technical projects (personal, university, competitions, open-source)
Bonus Points if You Have
Any exposure to automotive/telematics systems
Practical debugging experience (logs, traces, reproducible defect isolation)
Working Model / Eligibility
Hybrid working model; on‑site preferred (Bucharest) based on project and integration needs
Availability for the full 6‑month internship period (full‑time or part‑time)
What We Offer
Flexible work environment, allowing for full-time remote work globally for positions that can be performed outside a HARMAN or customer location
Access to employee discounts on world-class products (JBL, HARMAN Kardon, AKG, and more)
Extensive training opportunities through our own HARMAN University
Competitive wellness benefits
Tuition reimbursement
“Be Brilliant” employee recognition and rewards program
An inclusive and diverse work environment that fosters and encourages professional and personal development
