Description & Requirements
Introduction: A Career at HARMAN Automotive
We’re a global, multi-disciplinary team that’s putting the innovative power of technology to work and transforming tomorrow. At HARMAN Automotive, we give you the keys to fast-track your career.
- Engineer audio systems and integrated technology platforms that augment the driving experience
- Combine ingenuity, in-depth research, and a spirit of collaboration with design and engineering excellence
- Advance in-vehicle infotainment, safety, efficiency, and enjoyment.
About the Role
This position is part of HARMAN Automotive’s Ready Care R&D organization, focused on delivering production‑ready in‑cabin radar features (such as child presence detection and occupant classification) that enhance safety and well‑being for drivers and passengers. We are seeking a hands-on and versatile engineer to lead the testing and operationalization of AI-based in-cabin radar systems. You will work closely with radar signal processing engineers, data scientists, embedded developers, and product teams to build test infrastructure, automate pipelines, and validate performance across real-world scenarios.
What You Will Do
Radar Testing
- Design and implement test plans for validating in-cabin radar features (e.g., child presence detection, occupancy detection, occupancy classification).
- Develop automated test frameworks for regression, robustness, and edge-case validation using real and synthetic data.
- Plan and execute lab & vehicle experiments; curate datasets; define and automate offline/online evaluation to report KPI trends across environments, occupants, and seating configurations.
- Conduct performance benchmarking (latency, accuracy, reliability) on embedded platforms (e.g., TI AWR6843/44, NVIDIA Jetson, Qualcomm).
- Collaborate with radar HW, SW, signal processing and ML teams to debug and resolve integration issues.
MLOps & Infrastructure (Nice to have)
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for model training, evaluation, and deployment.
- Manage model versioning, reproducibility, and monitoring in production environments.
- Integrate testing and validation into the ML lifecycle to ensure continuous quality.
- Optimize inference workflows for embedded deployment.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in digital signal processing, embedded systems, or ML infrastructure.
- Strong programming skills in MATLAB/Python and C++.
- Familiarity with test automation tools (e.g., GTest, pytest, CANoe, MATLAB Test) and embedded validation workflows.
- Understanding of FMCW MIMO radars (beamforming/DOA, range–Doppler processing, calibration, clutter and multi‑path mitigation).
- Comfort working across lab & vehicle environments, with structured test planning, data logging, and statistical analysis of results.
Bonus Points if You Have
- Experience with automotive standards (e.g., ASPICE, Euro NCAP, GSR).
- Exposure to in-cabin radar or camera feature testing.
- Experience with testing ML-based products OR with ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and MLOps tools (e.g., MLflow).
- Familiarity with data annotation tools and synthetic data generation.
- ISTQB qualification
What Makes You Eligible
- Be willing to work in Harman office, India (hybrid).
- Be willing to travel 5%
- Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
What We Offer
- Flexible work environment, allowing for full-time remote work globally for positions that can be performed outside a HARMAN or customer location
- Access to employee discounts on world-class Harman and Samsung products (JBL, HARMAN Kardon, AKG, etc.)
- Extensive training opportunities through our own HARMAN University
- Competitive wellness benefits
- Tuition reimbursement
- “Be Brilliant” employee recognition and rewards program
- An inclusive and diverse work environment that fosters and encourages professional and personal development
