About the Role

This position works for the target that Harman has a base of capable suppliers and that purchased products meet internal and external customer expectations. This position will be responsible for driving supplier quality improvement initiatives throughout the corporation with major emphases in the Harman India.

What You Will Do

  • The P4. Supplier quality engineer position is responsible for managing outsourcing suppliers, ensuring product quality, testing and reliability throughout the product lifecycle. The position has the responsibility for developing the appropriate preventive quality processes in suppliers and metrics to minimize return and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • This position shall be able to perform team vision setting with SWOT analysis and responsible to tracking actions defined.
  • Establish short term/Long term supplier quality business plan to fulfill company visions.
  • Drive cost engineering mind with deep knowledge of commodity experience.
  • Conflict management skills are required to deal with various circumstances within/outside of organization.
  • Monitoring supplier quality performance and continuous improvement with assigned suppliers.
  • Perform regular performance review with supplier to set up strategic targets for key suppliers.
  • Track and communicate with Program team, BUI team to follow up CPA/CPL status and take care of escalation.
  • Prioritize properly to deal with critical or urgent cases from internal/external customer
  • Working closely with purchasing team to set up commodity strategy and take ownership for supplier development.
  • Take lead the Harman global complex modules and displays related supplier quality development.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • Bachelor’s degree required in electronic or engineering equivalent.
  • + 7 years’ related experience in automotive environment, involved in electrical commodity manufacturing and supplier quality engineering. 
  • Deep understanding of AIAG 5 core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA), problem solving methodology and automotive QMS (Quality Management Systems: VDA and IATF 16949).  Direct experience with suppliers required.
  • Deep Knowledge on electrical module SMT/Assembly manufacturing process display and components (Semiconductors/PCB/mechanical commodity), reliability failure mechanism and the relevant standards like IPC/Jedec/AECQ/ANSI-ESD and so on.
  • Automotive Suppliers or customer audit experienced
  • Manufacturing capacity analysis ex. Run at rate analysis

Bonus Points if You Have

  • REQUIRED Specific Knowledge, Expertise, Coursework:
  • Knowledge on electric module and display related commodity – manufacturing process/ test and failure mechanism for the PCB assembly, LGA manufacturing, telematics module, display and touch panels, familiar with SMT, underfill process, optical bonding and LCM assembly process. Experience on the Harman outsourcing products, like NAD module, LCM assembly and so on.   
  • REQUIRED Degree and/or Training, including specifically defined educational equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree required in electric engineering or equivalent.
  • REQUIRED Certifications/Licenses: VDA 6.3 or equivalent preferred.

What Makes You Eligible

  • Degree in Finance, Controlling, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or similar.
  • 2–3 years of Controlling / Finance experience.
  • Proven exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and cost performance tracking
  • Business-fluent English.
