About the Role

The primary responsibility is to work with the customer to materialize customer requirements/design for  the hardware/software according to analysis on customer requirement and internal platform requirement, and to lead related disciplines in Harman to understand customer expectations. This position will be the bridge between the customer and internal engineering and testing teams and clarify customer requirement with customer/internal teams in order to avoid any misunderstanding and/or misinterpretation and to prevent any conflict/gap between customer requirement and internal platform requirement. This position will be also driving the internal team based on BMS, project needs, and customer requirements. The Successful candidate will have a demonstrated to track records of success with telematics engineering and customer facing interaction.

Your Team

Position will report to lead PM of program and organization perspective to report head of engineering or requirement department head.



What You Will Do

  • Work with the customer to materialize customer requirements/design according to analysis on customer requirement and internal platform requirement.
  • As main communication window based on customer requirement and internal standard, generic platform requirement, MNO requirement, wireless standard and regulation.
  • Distribute customer requirement to project stakeholders (e.g. Functional Owner, Project Manager, engineering team one members) for analysis and derivation of system requirement.
  • Analyze and manage change request from a customer or internal. (Store change records and maintain traceability.)
  • Act as representing person from entire Harman team, lead customer communications to get consensus with a customer when internal team raises a proposal.
  • Work closely with other team members, includes PM, hardware engineers, software engineers, manufacturing, suppliers, and quality assurance departments to drive successful project delivery to meet timing, cost and quality.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and engineering experience in electronic or automotive business for at least 3 years for Engineer.
  • Knowledge on SW/HW architectures and Mobile Wireless Technology (DSPs, ARM, Memories, Multicore processing, WiFi, 5G, 4G/LTE, 3G, CDMA, 2G, Bluetooth).
  • Fluent in Japanese (Read, Write and Speaking) to communicate with customers.
  • Experience in Customer Relationship (JOEMs) especially Isuzu

What is Nice to Have

  • Excellent system understanding in Telematics products.
  • Automotive CAN experiences preferred.
  • Automotive Ethernet experience preferred.
  • Embedded system and software development and model-based familiarity desired
  • Knowledge of Requirement Management tool DNG (DOORs).
  • Knowledge of PLM system tool Siemens Teamcenter.
  • Knowledge of process models (e.g., Automotive SPICE)
  • Business level English preferred

What Makes You Eligible

  • This position requires the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle.  As such, any offer of employment will be contingent upon having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in HARMAN’s sole discretion, no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years
  • Successfully complete a background investigation/Aptitude Test as a condition of employment.
