About the Role

This position works for the target that Harman has a base of capable suppliers and those purchased products meet internal and external customer expectation. This position will be responsible for driving supplier quality improvement initiatives throughout the corporation with major emphases in the Far East.


Your Team

This position will coordinate with Harman Procurement, Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing sites and Suppliers to develop effective working relationships resulting in mutual business success and act as liaison between Harman and Supplier for all quality related issues. The main duties include supplier quality engineering, work in project and quality assurance during mass production.


What You Will Do

  • The position is responsible for managing mechanic suppliers, ensuring product quality, throughout the product lifecycle. The position has the responsibility for developing the appropriate preventive quality processes in supplier and metrics to minimize return and maximize customer satisfaction.

  • Establish short term/long term supplier quality business plan to fulfill company visions.

  • Manage new project at supplier side from kick-off till mass production, including feasibility study of new component, and technical review with supplier.

  • Monitor supplier quality performance and drive continuous improvement.

  • Track and communicate with Program team, BUI team to follow up CPA/CPL status and take care of escalation.

  • Through the utilization of data-driven measurements that are clear and effective, statistical methods and tracking measurements:

    • Identify new and high-risk suppliers for new programs.

    • Drive supplier improvements in quality systems and performance.

    • Perform risk analyses of new and high-risk suppliers on new programs.

  • Work with company cross function team to resolve supplier quality issues.

  • Perform supplier site visit/audit to assess supplier’s quality management systems, processes, and technical abilities.

  • Drive cost engineering mind with deep knowledge of commodity experience.

  • Workflow optimization and standard/criteria generation on commodities if necessary.

  • Completes other related duties as assigned by the manager.

What You Need

  • Familiar with die-casting, stamping, faceplate, decoration trimming parts, and switch mat with relevant technical production processes and know about injection molding, painting, plating, forming, etc., supplier quality engineering process.

  • Familiar with key characteristics of die-casting, stamping components, decoration trimming part as well as faceplate, and know about switch mat components etc.

  • Bachelor’s degree required in mechanical engineering or equivalent.

  • VDA 6.3 certification is preferred.

  • Minimum five years related experience in automotive environment, involved in car infotainment system supplier quality engineering is preferred. 

  • Must have a thorough understanding of measurement method (GD&T), manufacturing processes, methods, and problem-solving methodology, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA and automotive quality management systems. 

  • Manufacturing capacity analysis ex. Run at rate analysis.

  • Reasonable fit for frequent travel.

  • Strong motivation for self-learning with other new categories.
