About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Automotive HIL Test Engineer with strong domain knowledge in ECU validation and test automation. The role focuses on system-level validation, HIL testing, and defect identification for Body and Comfort ECUs, ensuring high-quality software delivery through robust testing frameworks and processes.
What You Will Do
- Identify and analyze software and hardware defects in automotive ECUs
- Perform system-level validation using Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test environments
- Design, execute, and automate test cases for Body, Comfort, and Lighting ECUs
- Work extensively with automotive protocols such as CAN, LIN, UDS (ISO 14229), and Ethernet
- Develop and maintain automated HIL test scripts using tools like vTestStudio
- Create test specifications from system requirements and perform peer reviews
- Validate functionality using Vector HIL environments and simulation systems
- Report, track, and manage defects to ensure complete test coverage and quality delivery
- Collaborate with stakeholders and contribute to continuous process improvement
Bonus Points if You Have
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow
- Exposure to German language (basic proficiency)
- Experience tracking and improving project metrics and KPIs
- Strong understanding of process improvement methods, tools, and best practices
What Makes You Eligible
- Bachelor’s degree (B.E.) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communications, or Computer Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in the Automotive domain, specifically ECU software and hardware testing
- Strong understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and testing processes
- Proven experience across the full lifecycle of 1–3 HIL testing projects
- Working knowledge of IBM DOORS Next Generation and PREEvision
- Exposure to configuration and project management tools such as SVN and JIRA
- Proficiency with Vector tools including CANoe and VN hardware (VN1610, VN1611, VN1630A, VN5650, etc.)
- Experience with HIL automation tools such as vTestStudio
- Scripting experience in CAPL, Python, Visual Basic (VB), or C#
What You Need to Be Successful
- Strong understanding of HIL testing concepts and architectures
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and defect lifecycle management
- Ability to ensure 100% software test coverage, risk mitigation, and troubleshooting
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as a team player
- Proven stakeholder management skills, including coordination with partners and internal MBRDI teams
- Ability to track, analyze, and report project KPIs to drive quality and efficiency improvements
- Continuous improvement mindset with focus on processes, methods, and tools
