About the Role

The Sourcing Part Change Specialist role will be part of the Direct Procurement Operations team and be responsible for change management activities related to changes to Harman components or discontinued components driven from Harman’s suppliers.

The role is of global scope dealing with all functions managing the Harman products that consume these components at all locations where the Harman product is produced (in house or outsourced).  The primary functions outside of procurement include the Customer Business Unit, Program Management, Manufacturing, Engineering and Finance. 

This position assures transparency and timely resolution of part changes or part terminations, for optimal cost decisions and continued supply of parts, for serial or service production of Harman’s products. 

The overall objective of the team is to assure parts are cross functionally evaluated and approved by the business to assure obsolescence risk is addressed and minimized from a liability perspective and plants have no customer service disruptions in discontinued part supply.

What You Will Do

This position handles the highest dollar Product Change Notifications (PCN) / Product Termination Notifications (PTN)

  • Enters all the information in the tracking tool, detailing specifics as to what products the parts are used in, which customers buy the products, demand of the components, which plants produce the products, key functional stakeholders, potential replacement parts noted from the supplier, etc.
  • Sends notification and works with category managers for determination of whether to proceed with PCN/PTN process or if it can be rejected.  Would provide any details needed for category manager to provide their functional disposition.
  • Sends notification to all key functional stakeholders and assures disposition is followed in defined process activity timing.  Escalates if timing if non-compliant.
  • Keeps track of all disposition status, keeps master reporting accurate and prepares Last Time Buy Board presentations for category managers.  Sets up meetings for LTB Board stakeholder reviews.
  • For the actual Last Time Buy, coordinates and assures GAR approvals are completed and the plants prepare purchases by the deadlines needed.
  • Prepares reporting to show potential financial and production impact of PTNs monthly(the pipeline forecast)
  • Collaborates with all stakeholders involved in the disposition of the PCN/PTNs including hosting or attending meetings to assure process is understood and information is received.  This also includes process training/change management with process enhancements.
  • Works on process improvement activities and any projects related to the PCN/PTN area

What You Need to Be Successful

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Supply Chain experience, procurement or material planning preferred
  • 3-5 years of supply chain management and/or procurement experience
  • Demonstrated experience within a global, multicultural, multi-location organization
  • Good knowledge and understanding of SAP MM
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills, including the proven ability to manage multiple activities in parallel
  • Excellent communication skills, professional collaboration and positive attitude dealing with all stakeholders involved in the process.  
  • Strong Industry experience at any of the following Industries a plus:  Automotive, Electronic Consumer Products, High Technology
  • Proven change managements/training skills
