About the Role
The Experiential R&D Department is seeking an intern for the responsibility of assisting controlled listening tests to measure the sound quality of Harman’s automotive audio systems and other technologies. The resulting data is utilized to establish performance targets and assist Engineering & Product Development with system optimization.
What You Will Do
- Execute the HARMAN Benchmarking process
- Assist with the creation and implementation of sound quality listening tests
- Gather in-vehicle acoustic measurements
- Provide support for proper testing documentation, data entry, and database maintenance
- Train listeners on process and deliver training to internal Harman employees
- Assist Engineering and Sales in developing sound quality performance targets
- Work alongside teammates in Germany, Japan, India and China toward a common goal and maintain a global database.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Must have taken courses in or closely related to Engineering, Acoustics, Audio, Computer Science, Data Science, Sociology, Psychology, or Statistics.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to confidently interact with and present information to senior leaders and executives
- Must work collaboratively with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Interest in the audio or automotive industry
- Results orientated mindset
Bonus Points if You Have
- Demonstrated experience leading projects to completion
What Makes You Eligible
- Must be currently enrolled in a realted Bachelor's Degree program or higher at an accredited institution having completed your Sophomore year or later, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter before participation in the internship program, and returning to school for at least one semester upon completion of the internship program
- Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA
- Be willing to work in an office in Novi, Michigan.
- Able to provide your own housing and transportation to/from work.
- Must possess unrestricted work authorization.
- Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
- Must provide full work availability from May 18, 2026 through August 7, 2026 and be able to work 40 hours per week

Sophomore: $23.00
Junior: $25.00
Senior: $27.00
Master: $32.00
Doct: $38.00
Dependent on the internship offered, pay is based on factors, including without limitation, the applicant's level of education and business need.
