About the Role
The Sustainability Manager acts as the central interface between Procurement and BCA functions, Auto Sustainability and Corporate ESG, driving the development, execution and governance of sustainability strategies and processes across the supply chain. This role ensures compliance with customer and legal ESG requirements and leads cross-functional coordination and reporting.
What You Will Do
Strategic Development & Roadmap
- Develop, implement, and monitor sustainability roadmap and strategy for the supply chain aligned with automotive sustainability strategy and goals
- Define and own sustainability KPIs, measurement methodologies, tools, and systems
Supply Chain Transformation
- Identify gaps between requirements and current practices; define and implement improvement strategies for the supply chain.
- Steer the rollout of sustainability initiatives and regular updates of frameworks and processes (e.g., Supplier Code of Conduct, policies).
- Lead supplier enablement and development in line with new sustainability regulations and customer requirements.
- Embed sustainability metrics into procurement processes
Governance, Compliance & Reporting
- Monitor and ensure compliance with regulations and standards (ISO, RBA...).
- Collect and analyze new customer and legal sustainability requirements for the supply chain.
- Cascade sustainability requirements and track progress across procurement and suppliers.
- Oversee ESG data collection systems and provide periodic sustainability performance reporting to leadership and external auditors.
- Govern and own sustainability activities and processes within procurement.
Cross-Functional Engagement
- Engage with internal stakeholders (SteerCo, Sustainability Leadership, Sustainability Core Team, ESG Committee) for alignment, updates and reporting.
- Represent supply chain sustainability in customer RFQs and audits (e.g., RBA, ISO).
- Central Interface and support to Harman Auto Sustainability and Corporate ESG
Capability Building & Thought Leadership
- Develop and deliver sustainability training programs for internal teams and suppliers.
- Stay updated on ESG trends, share best practices across Harman divisions, and participate in sustainability forums or working groups.
What You Need to be Successful
- Sustainability Strategy Development – Building and executing supply chain sustainability roadmaps and KPIs.
- ESG Data & Reporting – Managing ESG metrics, compliance data, and performance reporting.
- Regulatory Compliance – Deep knowledge of sustainability standards (ISO, RBA, etc.).
- Supply Chain Transformation – Driving supplier engagement, enablement, and responsible sourcing practices.
- Cross-Functional Leadership – Collaborating with procurement, ESG, and business units to align goals.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication Skills – Influencing internal and external partners, including customers. Supplier Engagement – Strong communication skills to support ESG data collection and support supplier improvement efforts.
- Training & Capability Building – Educating teams and suppliers on sustainability requirements.
- Continuous Learning – Staying current on ESG trends, tools, and best practices.
