About the Role

HARMAN is seeking a passionate, innovative, and driven engineer to bring to life the next generation of professional mixer products. This role holds primary responsibility for shaping product concepts and architecture at the inception of new Mixer NPI projects.  This position plays a critical role in defining the future success of new mixer initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in technology, architecture, and product development for mixer products and systems within the professional audio industry. They will possess a deep understanding of mixer technologies, customer needs, market dynamics, use cases, and applications. This role requires deep technical expertise in requirements engineering, cross-domain coordination, including hardware, firmware, software, and networked protocols. The engineer will lead architecture definition, interface design, and system validation while collaborating with product management to translate market requirements into scalable, high-performance solutions. Responsibilities include technical project leadership—covering estimation, scheduling, risk management, and resource planning—as well as coordination with internal engineering teams and third-party partners to ensure timely delivery of robust, production-ready systems. A strong foundation in real-time systems, signal processing, and AV interoperability standards is essential, along with excellent communication and stakeholder alignment skills.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and the R&D team to develop system requirements, architecture, and design for audio mixer products.
  • Lead the finalization of the Product Requirement Specification for the project.
  • Lead the R&D project team to identify the best-balanced design solutions for performance, cost, weight, risk and project duration.
  • Lead the scoping of the entire project including accessories, packaging, and manuals.
  • Collaborate with product and project managers to align project objectives with business objectives.
  • Work closely with Project Management to control risk, cost and schedule.
  • Work closely with the Technology, Platform and Tools Architect to define needed technologies and platforms to enable the future NPI roadmap
  • Maintain a deep understanding of current and emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Participate in product development from inception to mass production.
  • Coordinate work between all functional teams to ensure timely delivery of products to the market.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of a long-term roadmap for Harman Pro's product lines.
  • Participate in research projects for proof-of-concept implementation of new technologies and ideas.
  • Drive innovation and technology adoption within engineering.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering teams to support strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate across functional teams to lead design and architecture decisions for projects.
  • Identify and mitigate potential project risks and challenges.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Collaborate effectively with 3rd party vendors and partners.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience designing audio systems for the professional audio industry, with a particular focus on mixer technologies.
  • Deep knowledge of the professional audio market, including customer needs, use cases, and application environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with a meticulous, data-driven approach, are essential.
  • Proven ability to self-motivate and drive alignment across cross-functional teams and global organizations.
  • Skilled in motivating teams, fostering shared understanding, and guiding efforts toward defined goals.
  • Experience with requirements management and traceability.
  • Experience in task break-down, estimation and resource scheduling.
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring high-performing engineering teams in a global environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical associates.
  • Ability to oversee, status and guide project teams.
  • Ability to lead a project team and drive to on-time product release.
  • Ability and desire to both manage and motivate a team and contribute as an individual to achieve product development goals.
  • Experience with Jama Connect or other requirements tracking software.
  • Ability to build relationships, influence and motivate internal and external stakeholders across multiple countries.
  • Passion for driving technology growth and innovation.

  • Experience collaborating within a global, matrixed organization to drive project success.
  • Experience using Atlassian Tools, including Confluence, Jira, and Bitbucket, to manage documentation and workflows efficiently.

What Makes You Eligible

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% both domestically and internationally.
  • This role will be remote based but will require working in a Harman office as needed.   .
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screening.

Pay Transparency
$ 120,750 - $ 177,100

Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation are also available, such as bonuses or commission.

Pay is based on a wide range of factors, including, without limitation, skill set, experience, training, location, and business need. While the above range is a reasonable estimate of the wage range for this position, please note the disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographical differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.
