About the Role
Lead and coordinate the testing of multiple telematics or comparable software produced by the software development team for OEM/customers, ensuring quality standards are met for any changes deployed. Prepare test strategies and support project teams in the delivery of new change. Be the advocate for quality assurance best practices and lead initiatives such as test automation. Control the timeline and used budget of the test activities and participate in change management. Be responsible for deliveries of SW and System test to assure the delivery in time, budget and quality as well sharing the information throughout global system test team to avoid duplicate development and wrong implementation.

What You Will Do
- Lead and mentor a distributed team consisting of permanent and supplier test resources.
- Plan and track all SW and System test activities related to the assigned project.
- Support multiple Scrum and Waterfall delivery teams with estimation, planning and strategy for testing connectivity/telematics systems.
- Manage the creation and on-going development of an automated testing framework for use on the program.
- Advocate for QA best practices across project delivery, establishing and embedding a programs level testing strategy applicable to all changes.
- Organize and lead initiatives to improve test processes, extend the use of tools / frameworks (where appropriate) and develop team members to improve efficiency.
- Perform (project-level) test lead duties when needed including stakeholder discussions and status reporting.
- Represent the project vis-à-vis customer with respect to SW and System test content.
- Ensure test coverage and test results in time for define deliveries on weekly and release based cycles.
- Own release activities such as defect triaging from multiple projects and ensuring test packs (regression, smoke) are updated to include new functionality.
- Co-ordinate the use and maintenance of test environments for systems across the estate, ensuring best practices for data quality, data consistency and supporting needs of all projects across the programs
What You Need
- Solid test management background within a fast-paced business with experience using multiple testing technologies.
- Defining a test strategy including test approach, test data management and environments.
- Functional test planning, preparation and execution including experience of test design techniques.
- Managing and executing non-functional tests such as load testing, penetration testing and KPI testing.
- Leading and managing a distributed team of test analysts.
- Working with Agile and Waterfall delivery processes.
- Working knowledge of one or more source configuration management and defect tracking systems.
- Confident manner in giving presentations and workshops.
- Excellent and careful attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills are essential, as are exceptionally strong stakeholder management skills.
- A commitment to quality and a thorough approach to work.
- A proven tracked record in software testing.
- Thorough knowledge of structured test methods and delivery processes (including waterfall and agile methodologies).
- Detailed knowledge of both manual and automated testing along with automation framework definition.
- Able to organize, manage and prioritize own workload and juniors to ensure deadlines are met.
- Results orientated with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Very good written and spoken Japanese and English (due to customer interface, knowledge of Japanese language is mandatory)
What is Nice to Have
- ISTQB or JSTQB test manager certification
- Good understanding about automotive development processes and how to test connectivity or telematics systems
- Experience in working with Agile methodologies
What Makes You Eligible
- Be willing to travel up to 10% international travel and 50% domestic travel.
- Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
- This position requires the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle. As such, any offer of employment will be contingent upon having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in HARMAN’s sole discretion, no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years.
- Be willing to work in an [office, manufacturing facility, client-site} OR This role is eligible to work remotely full-time with occasional trips into the Hiroshima office location required (this could be on 24-hour notice)
- Successfully complete a background investigation/Aptitude Test as a condition of employment.
