About the Role
The Manager, Accounts Payable, is responsible for managing the invoice processing, disbursement, supplier care and financial closing function for Harman globally. This role will partner with Finance leaders and business partners to deliver accounting and closing services that meet Harman’s current and future requirements.
What You Will Do
Work with global teams geographically and across all Harman businesses.
Perform daily tasks independently and provide oversight and guidance to direct reports.
As a second line manager, lead all invoice processing, disbursement, supplier care activities for companies in scope in Harman’s global organization.
Directly supervise first line managers; provide guidance and oversight.
Provide management oversight for accounts payable closing activities.
Enforce compliance to Harman Policy regulations as well as internal and external audit standards.
Answer all ad-hoc questions around accounts payable activities.
Collaborate in the formation of global standards for accounts payable activities and ensure task execution according to those standards.
Oversee the compilation and maintenance of user manuals and the adherence to internal controls.
Oversee audit support and preparation of audit related analyses.
Support new projects from accounts payable operations side, validate test results.
Collaborate in developing and analyzing accounts payable KPIs and metrics that will assist with evaluating the effectiveness and performance of the accounts receivable function.
Present accounts payable KPIs and metrics regularly.
Monitor the performance of subordinate staff, set targets and provide feedback.
Provide training and support to direct reports as applicable.
Identify process/system improvements and standardization opportunities.
Collaborate in the implementation of process/system improvement changes.
Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned by the line manager.
Collaborate cross-functionally within and outside GSSC.
Provide back-up for direct reports and for the line manager.
What You Need to be Successful
Bachelor’s degree in accounting / finance / commerce.
10+ years of experience in accounts payable.
5+ years of experience in people management.
Strong Fundamental Accounting experience, specifically with regards to Accounts Payable, Disbursement and Compliance.
Ability to communicate proficiently in English, both written and verbal.
Excellent communication skills over the phone and in e-mail.
Good knowledge of SAP FICO.
Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications (especially Excel / PowerPoint).
A proven track record in team management.
Good understanding of Chart of accounts, cost objects.
Willingness to work in flexible timings and meet strict deadlines.
Knowledge of TDS / GST tax laws for India
Bonus Points if You Have
Master’s degree and/or higher accounting qualification is a distinct advantage.
Demonstrated ability to work in a high-paced and high-volume environment.

Be willing to work in an office; this role is eligible to work remotely up to full-time with occasional trips into the Shared Services office location required (this could be on 24-hour notice).
