About the Role
We are seeking a SMT Engineer to support and optimize dedicated production equipment and manufacturing processes. In this role, you will develop and maintain equipment software, support new product and process introductions, and ensure stable, efficient production in compliance with customer and IATF 16949 requirements. You will work cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement, implement technical changes, and support customer quality expectations throughout the production lifecycle.
What You Will Do
Develop, program, optimize, and maintain software for dedicated manufacturing equipment.
Maintain and update software programs to ensure reliable and efficient machine operation.
Troubleshoot software-related issues and continuously reduce cycle times.
Support production start-ups, pilot runs, and prototype manufacturing, providing accurate data for reporting.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce new manufacturing technologies and production methods.
Implement direct and indirect customer requirements into manufacturing processes.
Support project implementation, including coordination of tooling and equipment procurement.
Introduce new products, product families, and manufacturing processes into production.
Participate in the release, modification, and optimization of production processes and work methods.
Monitor, initiate, manage, and implement technical changes to products and processes in line with customer requirements.
Design, implement, validate, and release measurement, testing, and inspection methods.
Create, maintain, review, and update technical documentation supporting production processes.
Participate in the planning, implementation, and analysis of manufacturing processes (FMEA, Control Plan, MFU/PFU, SPC, APQP).
Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 requirements relevant to the manufacturing process.
Define, implement, and track corrective actions, with a strong focus on customer complaints, clear deadlines, and ownership.
Support the investigation and resolution of customer complaints, including defining and implementing countermeasures (8D reports).
What You Need to Be Successful
Several years of professional experience in electronics manufacturing, preferably in an SMT environment.
Strong electronics knowledge, including schematic reading and fundamental electrical principles.
Ability to perform both software‑related and occasional hardware troubleshooting.
Focused, precise, and detail‑oriented working style.
Team‑player attitude with good collaboration skills.
English communication skills (spoken and written).
Confident use of Microsoft tools, Windows environments, and basic programming knowledge.
Bonus Points if You Have
Experience with X‑ray inspection systems, especially X‑ray program development.
Hands‑on SMT engineering background.
