Description & Requirements

As a Technical Program manager, you will be the Japan Customer Interface and responsible to coordinate and support in Delivery Management of Harman Engineering Services to various JOEM. Responsibilities also include support for daily delivery management (Enable Project status tracking, Weekly monthly and QBR discussions internally and with customer), customer relationship building, business farming. This position should ensure, that the JOEM processes and Lessons Learned will be introduced and established in the JOEM programs handled.

What You Will Do

  • Lead Engineering Projects – Plan and Manage projects from conception to completion by defining objectives, milestones, budget, resources and documentation, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and quality standards.
  • Provide Technical Oversight – Apply technical due processes, manage technical risks, and implement robust management processes.
  • Drive Innovation and Improvement – Continuous improvement initiatives to optimize engineering processes and outcomes.
  • Coordinate Cross Functional Teams – Collaborate with internal teams and third party vendors through development, validation, production launch and maintenance phases.
  • Risk and Issue Management – Conduct risk analysis, manage issue escalation and oversee change control processes.

  • Ensure Compliance – Maintain adherence to industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols. (e.g UN-R155 Cybersecurity, NCAP, FMVSS) and internal quality systems

What You Need

  • Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ Years Experience in Automotive domain with OEM and Suppliers
  • Minimum 5 Years of product development and/or program management experience with expertise in at least one technical area such as software, hardware, telematics or electronic manufacturing, preferably in an automotive application
  • Proven experience in developing and launching products across the full lifecycle - From business acquisition through production and postproduction maintenance
  • Fluent Japanese and English, prior experience in managing direct customer interactions in Japan preferably in automotive domain
  • Hands on experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), change impact analysis, strong ability to diagnose and resolve complex defects
  • Ability to support internal and customer driven design reviews, code reviews as required
  • Highly self-motivated and proactive, capable of delivering results independently while taking ownership of tasks

Good to Have

  • Agile/Scrum methodologies, PMI, PMP Certification
  • Regulatory Knowledge - Familiarity with Automotive industry standards, compliance requirements and safety protocols
  • Leadership Experience – Prior experience as project lead, customer point of contact
  • Domain Expertise – Automotive electronic product application knowledge
